Lychee Health Benefits
-
A single cup of lychee provides over 100% of your daily vitamin C.
A potent immune booster, collagen builder, and antioxidant that protects cells from daily damage.
-
Lychee contains oligonol, a patented polyphenol mixture studied for its anti-influenza, anti-oxidant, and circulation-improving properties. Few other fruits contain this compound.
-
With meaningful potassium and virtually no sodium, lychee supports healthy blood pressure, proper heart rhythm, and fluid balance in the body.
-
Lychee contains epicatechin, rutin, and other flavonoids with documented anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer research interest — the same compounds found in green tea and dark chocolate.
-
The combination of high vitamin C, copper (essential for melanin production), and hydrating water content makes lychee a natural supporter of radiant, healthy skin.
For Our Partners
Lychee Shelf Life
Lychee is a little delicate, so timing matters! Keep refrigerated at 35–40°F (2–4°C) with 90–95% humidity for 7–10 days. At room temperature, it lasts just 2–3 days before the shell browns and dries. In a tropical produce assortment, lychee needs extra attention to stay shelf-ready.
How to Handle Fresh Lychee
Keep lychee cold from receiving to shelf—breaks in the cold chain can quickly brown the shell. The change is mostly cosmetic, but shoppers notice! If displaying at room temperature, mist lightly and keep the fruit in its clamshell packaging until it’s time to display.
How to Display Lychee
Lychee season is short, so give shoppers a reason to grab it while they can. Try “Limited Season” signage and display lychee clamshells near rambutan and longan to create an Asian tropical fruit destination. A cut-open sample reveals the translucent flesh and gives curious shoppers a closer look.
Lychee Selling Tips
Many shoppers already know lychee from drinks and desserts. Now it’s time to introduce them to the real fruit! Try a sign that says “You’ve had the flavour—now try the real thing.” With strong impulse-buy potential during its short June–July window, fresh lychee can bring excitement to seasonal tropical fruit displays.
